Jim Madden, Intern

Hello! My name is Jim Madden. I treat a variety of issues but my specialty includes working with individuals and families who struggle with anxiety, panic attacks, addiction, self-harm and various types of phobias. I primarily work with families, adults, and teens.

I believe having the willingness to ask for help is a sign of bravery and self-respect. Research has shown receiving help, in a supportive environment, reduces the effect of anxiety and depression, and supports overall well being.

In my years of experience, working with those who struggle with anxiety, addiction, and depression I have witnessed how easy it is to get trapped in the mundane parts of life. Every one of us encounters low points in our life, the ebb and flow of life is part of the human experience. However fearful thoughts, anxious feelings, and depressed moods, left unchecked, can be destructive. An individual may find that things which used to bring them pleasure, and be life giving, such as work, relationships, and family, become life draining.

Often uncomfortable feelings left unattended, for too long, can morph into something bigger. Left untreated, some Individuals may begin to experience a loss of interest in everyday activities; along with feelings of discontentment, heightened agitation, fatigue, social withdrawal, and feelings of worthlessness and guilt.

The good news? There is hope! At Feel Good Counseling Center we believe uncomfortable feelings aren't meant to be a solitary experience, but rather a common human experience that is to be shared and treated.

My goal as a therapist is to not only unearth your unique potential, but to realign your mind, body and spirit, all which are intimately interconnected. With compassion and empathy I believe significant change can be made through the use of cognitive behavioral therapy, nutrition, meditation, exercise, sun, and yes, even a good night's sleep.Through gradual-methodical change, and the clients desire for healing there can be a re-emergence of the mind, body and spirit.

As a therapist I find nothing more gratifying, and inspiring, than to walk the road of recovery with my clients. I believe each one of us has the right to stand up, and say, I deserve to be seen, heard, and accepted - For ships are safe in the harbor - but that's not why ships were built.
