Silvia Skripkauskas, Intern
Hello! My name is Silvia. My approach to therapy is holistic and culturally sensitive, ensuring that every aspect of your unique background and experience is considered in our journey together. I specialize in addressing a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, addictions, life transitions, goal setting, perfectionism, work and career challenges, pain management, women’s issues, and the development of coping skills. Additionally, I offer tailored support for professionals navigating the complexities of corporate environments.
I also have a special interest in mindfulness-based therapies, particularly Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and other mind-body modalities. These approaches help clients manage stress, build resilience, and cultivate a deeper connection between their mind and body for overall wellness.
As an immigrant to this country, I have navigated numerous life challenges that have instilled resilience and a profound curiosity about human thought, emotion, and behavior. Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at National Louis University, I am eager to apply my academic knowledge to real-world client care during a practicum and internship experience.
As a counseling intern, I bring a holistic approach to client therapy, tailoring my methods to the unique needs of each individual. As an immigrant, I can deeply relate to the immigrant experience and offer specialized support in that area. My diverse experiences in both university and corporate environments, combined with extensive travel and reading, have enriched my understanding of different cultures and enhanced my culturally adept approach to counseling. Having personally experienced workplace burnout, I am particularly attuned to its challenges and am passionate about incorporating mindfulness practices—such as meditation, light movement, and various breathing techniques—into therapy, helping clients achieve greater self-awareness and emotional balance. Whether through MBSR, meditation, gentle movement, or tailored breathing techniques, I help clients cultivate greater self-awareness, emotional balance, and a deeper connection with themselves.
I am fluent in both English and Lithuanian and have a deep understanding of Lithuanian culture, which allows me to offer culturally sensitive therapy for clients who share this heritage. Whether you are looking for support in your native language or are seeking a therapist who understands the unique cultural nuances of Lithuanian life, I am here to help.
My diverse background, which includes university education, corporate experience, extensive travel, and a lifelong love of learning, has equipped me with a broad understanding of different cultures. This rich tapestry of experiences enhances my ability to offer culturally adept counseling that resonates with clients from all walks of life. Choosing a therapist is a deeply personal decision, and I am honored to be considered as part of your journey. Together, we can explore your challenges, celebrate your strengths, and work towards the life you envision. Let’s take this journey together.
