Megan McLaughlin, Intern
Hello! My name is Megan. I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and teenagers experiencing mental health and behavioral concerns, including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, and autism.
I graduated from North Central College with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Wellness. Currently, I am pursuing my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Concordia University in Chicago. I have experience working with individuals of all ages, from newborns to adults, though my primary focus has been on children and teens aged 2-18. I have provided ABA therapy for children on the autism spectrum and worked as a paraprofessional with students with a variety of needs.
I am passionate about creating a safe, supportive, and judgment-free environment where clients can authentically express themselves. I believe in meeting clients where they are, while encouraging exploration of their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. By incorporating evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Person-Centered Therapy, I am able to provide compassionate, individualized care to help clients navigate challenges and build resilience.
Outside of school and work, I enjoy spending time with my dog, Abby, who LOVES walks, car rides, and trips to the dog park. I’m also teaching Abby how to use talking buttons to tell me when she wants to go outside, have a treat, or play fetch. When I’m not playing with Abby, I enjoy crafting, watching movies, and building puzzles.
